Hypersquare® is more than a steering wheel. Combining Peugeot's innovative patented design with advanced Steer-by-Wire technology, it redefines the connection between driver and vehicle, delivering hyperagility, hyperprecision and hypersafety through a more intuitive and engaging driving experience. First introduced as a visionary concept, Hypersquare® is designed to become a reality on the future Peugeot models, including the next-generation E-208.

A new architecture for steering control

Control is entirely electronic, with no physical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. By replacing mechanical components with electronic control, Steer-by-Wire enables a new level of steering optimisation. Free from the constraints of conventional steering systems, it can adapt more precisely to driving conditions, improving manoeuvrability, precision and stability whilst maintaining the highest safety standards.

Steer-by-Wire is built on a patented electronic steering architecture featuring aircraft fly-by-wire-inspired redundancy. To ensure maximum safety, the steering functions are duplicated and operate independently, ensuring continuous, reliable steering control at all times.

Is Steer-by-Wire reliable?

Following around a decade of development and testing by Peugeot, Steer-by-Wire technology has been designed and validated as a complete vehicle function for use throughout the vehicle's lifetime. Its electronic architecture, software, sensors and actuators undergo extensive testing across a wide range of operating conditions, helping to ensure reliable and consistent steering performance over time.
