Paris Porte de Versailles, Hall 7.2. Under the spotlights, a white silhouette instantly captures every gaze: the New PEUGEOT E‑208 GTi stands proudly, unveiled in its launch white colour. Around it, several versions of the legendary 205 GTi form a true guard of honour - a powerful, almost solemn staging that expresses the continuity of a legend.

Just a few metres away, the first European members of the GTInsider Club approach. German, Spanish and then French enthusiasts discover - ahead of anyone else - the model that now carries the GTi legacy into a new era. Very quickly, one thing becomes clear: no one speaks better about GTi than those who truly live and breathe it.

Invited to Rétromobile for an exclusive experience, members of the GTInsider Club did far more than discover the E-208 GTi. They were welcomed as privileged guests. Their stay began at the Hôtel Bellune, a four-star establishment ideally located in the heart of Paris' 15th arrondissement, just a five-minute walk from the show. An elegant and serene setting, perfect for extending conversations fuelled by GTi passion.

From the moment they arrive on the stand, club members approach the E-208 GTi as one would approach a symbol.

“You immediately recognise the GTi spirit: compact, muscular, yet elegant,” notes a German member, captivated by the car’s stance and signature lighting.

The experience continues through privileged exchanges with three PEUGEOT experts: Hervé Charpentier, Curator of the PEUGEOT Adventure Museum in Sochaux, who retraces the history of the models on display; Vincent Héride, Product Manager at PEUGEOT, who explains the design and engineering choices behind the white E-208 GTi; and Michael Trouvé, PEUGEOT Design Project Manager, who reveals the stylistic intent and aesthetic decisions shaping this new interpretation of the GTi. A rare encounter, marked by passionate discussions around the 205 GTi and its modern successor.

The lineage is unmistakable. In the background, the 205 GTi—1.6, 1.9, Griffe and even Dimma—tell a story spanning four decades of performance and emotion.

In front of them, the new E-208 GTi asserts itself as a confident heir: 280 horsepower, a sharp silhouette, an athletic stance and subtle red accents throughout.

For many, seeing the two generations side by side is deeply moving.

“The 205 was my teenage years. I learned to drive in a white 205 GTi. Seeing them together is truly emotional,” shares a Spanish member.

A French enthusiast sums up this connection perfectly: “You really feel the GTi spirit again : sportiness, character, but with the modernity we expect today.”

All observe with fascination how PEUGEOT reconciles sporting heritage with the transition to electrification. “It’s like seeing history and the future side by side. A perfectly assumed passing of the torch,” notes another French participant, charmed by “this natural continuity within the GTi family.”

While emotion dominates, technical curiosity is never far away.

Design details, widened tracks, red accents, the reinterpreted monogram...every element is scrutinised, compared and discussed.

“It doesn’t feel out of place. Despite the 40-year gap, you can tell it belongs to the same family,” observes a seasoned French member.

Another adds with a smile: “Now it will have to be driven. And if the sensations live up to the promise of its looks, it could be something very special.”

More than a product presentation, this day is a true community experience.

The GTInsider Club brings together enthusiasts for whom PEUGEOT is far more than a brand. It is a personal bond, often born behind the wheel of a family 205 GTi, sometimes passed down from one generation to the next.

“Being here is a privilege. You can feel that Peugeot truly respects this heritage and genuinely includes us in the journey,” says a French participant, moved by rediscovering “those familiar nods” she once knew from her own white 205.

By inviting its members to discover the E-208 GTi ahead of its official unveiling, PEUGEOT strengthens this unique bond, celebrating the Year of GTi by involving those who keep the passion alive, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
