With six trophies, PEUGEOT has now entered the “top 3” brands with the most awards in the Car of the Year history thanks to all-new 208 winning the Car of the Year 2020 accolade.
Organisers stated “The car (the 208) stood out from its competitors thanks to its exceptional choice of powertrains which includes an electric version beside the traditional gasoline and diesel engine”.
And Jean-Philippe Imparato, PEUGEOT Brand CEO stated “I am particularly proud that the all-new PEUGEOT 208 has just won the 2020 Car of the Year prize. We're delighted to have been awarded Most Dependable Volume Brand in the annual J.D. Power UK Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). This survey is one of the UK's most trusted reliability surveys, with over 11,000 cars owners rating their cars between the first 12 - 36 months of ownership to tell potential buyers how dependable they are. PEUGEOT were ranked the Most Depenable Brand of all volume and premium brands covered in the study in the UK, beating a number of key rivals to the title. This accolade means PEUGEOT owners were most happy with their vehicles' reliability, running costs and build quality.

The all-new PEUGEOT e-2008 has taken home the ‘Best Electric Car’ award at the Business Car Awards.
Launched earlier this year, the all-new PEUGEOT e-2008 is the second car in the brand’s new generation of all-electric vehicles and continues PEUGEOT’s plan to introduce a fully electrified range by 2023.
Featuring a 136hp electric motor and a 50kWh battery, the all-new e-2008 has a zero emissions range of up to 206 miles of range (WLTP) from a single charge. Using 100kW rapid charging, an 80% charge takes as little as 30 minutes.

The all-new PEUGEOT e-208 has taken home the ‘Best Electric Car’ award at Autocar’s inaugural ‘Britain’s Best Cars Awards’. This award is one of just ten new car accolades presented by Autocar in these awards. The full-electric all-new PEUGEOT e-208 was chosen by Autocar’s expert judges thanks to its interesting design, exceptional driving experience and competitive value.
The new awards champion the very best mainstream cars, with winners chosen by Autocar’s expert judges to reflect models that everyday motorists will want to own and drive. Judges factored in a range of criteria, including subjective aspects such as how enjoyable a vehicle is to drive.
Autocar Editor Mark Tisshaw said: “The all-new PEUGEOT e-208 wins its category by showing how comparatively simply users of regular cars should be able to adapt to electric motoring in the future. The all-new e-208, PEUGEOT’s first, new generation full electric vehicle, continues its award-winning run, taking home the ‘Electric Small Car of the Year’ award at the inaugural What Car? Electric Car Awards. The all-new PEUGEOT 208 and e-208 was named the ‘European Car of the Year’ earlier this year.
The What Car? panel of expert judges were impressed by PEUGEOT’s unique philosophy of ‘choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain’, which allows buyers to choose between the full electric all-new e-208, or the petrol and diesel variants of all-new 208, with no compromise in practicality, specification or capability.
Five of PEUGEOT’s latest models have been listed in the Diesel Car & Eco Car Top 50 awards. The all-new PEUGEOT 2008 SUV was crowned winner of the Compact SUV category, with its fully electric variant winning the Compact Electric Car category, and ranked 13th overall in the Top 50 standings.
The PEUGEOT Rifter was awarded the Best Utility Vehicle by Diesel Car & Eco Car, with the magazine praising its practicality and capability.
Diesel Car & Eco Car ranked the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV sixth in its Top 50 rankings, praising the SUV for its “eye-catching” looks and efficient line-up of diesel engines.
The all-new PEUGEOT 208 and all-new PEUGEOT 2008 SUV have received the 2020 Red Dot Award in the ‘Product Design’ category.
Both PEUGEOT models impressed the international jury with their sporty exterior designs and outstanding craftsmanship and beat over 6,500 products submitted.
This is the sixth time that PEUGEOT has taken the top spot in the product design category.
PEUGEOT’s all-new supermini was named 'Best Small Car' and the all-new PEUGEOT 2008 SUV 'Best Compact SUV' of the year.
Both the PEUGEOT 508 and 3008 SUV were also highly commended in the 'Best Upper Medium' and 'Best Mid-Size SUV' categories respectedly.
PEUGEOT has taken double honours at the Diesel Car & Eco Car ‘Used Car Top 50 2020’ awards, with the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV named the Used Car of the Year 2020 as well as the Best Medium SUV, with the PEUGEOT RCZ taking home the Best Used Sports Car title, reinforcing JD Power’s decision to award PEUGEOT the ‘Most Reliable Brand’ title in 2019.
PEUGEOT has struck gold in the 2020 Company Car Today CCT100 awards with repeat wins for both the 5008 SUV and Rifter. The PEUGEOT 5008 SUV scores a hat trick in the CCT100 awards, taking the ‘SUV of the Year Award’ for the third year in succession, while the Rifter takes the ‘MPV of the Year Award’ for the second successive year, reinforcing JD Power’s decision to award PEUGEOT the ‘Most Reliable Brand’ title in 2019.
For the third year in a row, the PEUGEOT 5008 SUV 1.2 PureTech 130 Allure has won the ‘Large SUV’ award at the 2020 What Car? Car of the Year Awards, one of the most important and prestigious awards ceremonies in the UK automotive industry.
The 2020 category win marks the third year the 5008 SUV has won the award, confirming its place at the top of the class, despite a host of new rivals arriving each year, reinforcing JD Power’s decision to award PEUGEOT the ‘Most Reliable Brand’ title in 2019.
Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, said: “One of the main priorities for Large SUV buyers is space and practicality, and no rival can hold a candle to the PEUGEOT 5008 SUV in this regard. PEUGEOT is marking the start of 2020 by taking home three awards from the independent SME fleet motoring news magazine Company Car and Van.
The all-new PEUGEOT e-208, has taken the award for ‘Small EV of the Year 2020’ , with Company Car and Van Editor Andrew Walker stating, “The PEUGEOT e-208 is a far more attractive, exciting, classy and enjoyable car than all of the current electric car competition.”
PEUGEOT’s second win goes to the head-turning 508, which swept the competition aside to be crowned Medium Car of the Year 2020 in the awards, with Andrew commenting "While many cars are bland to look at nowadays, the 508 bucks the trend, with movie-star looks that don’t take away any of the practicality customers expect from their car.”
The third win goes to the PEUGEOT Partner van, winning Small Van of the Year 2020 for the second year running .
The PEUGEOT 3008 SUV has scooped the ‘Best Medium SUV’ accolade at the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2020, marking four consecutive wins in the category.
Victory at the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2020 rounds up a successful year for the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV after receiving a range of top industry awards, including ‘New Car of the Year’ title at the Auto Trader Awards 2019, and ‘Best Mid-Sized SUV’ prize in the 2019 Driver Power Survey.
Judges praised the PEUGEOT 3008 SUV as a practical family car, with class leading levels of technology, a range of efficient petrol and diesel engines, engaging driving dynamics and stylish design in an affordable package.
All-new PEUGEOT 208 was clearly set for success when it collected the coveted carwow ‘Little Legend’ award at the 2019 carwow Car of the Year Awards. Mat Watson, Editorial Director at carwow stated:
“This may be a small car, but it’s the best new small car. Look at it. It’s cool. And it’s lovely on the inside, too. Just think how boring Polo, Fiesta and Yaris are by comparison. The victory did not stop there as the 3008 SUV was rated as the best vehicle in the ‘Exterior Design’ category and the ‘Safety Feature’ category, across all vehicle classes.
The European Car of the Year award is one of the most prestigious automotive accolades.
The awards were established in 1984 by automotive magazines from different countries in Europe and judged by motoring journalists.

The What Car? awards are highly sought after and often described as the “Oscars of the motoring world”.
Peugeot have gone on to win the What Car? Car of the Year award more than any other car manufacturer.
The first win was in 1979 with the Peugeot 305 winning Car of the Year, which was then succeeded by the Peugeot 205 GR in 1984. The Peugeot 306 then won the same award in 1994 and then in 1996 the Peugeot 406 scooped it again. In 2010, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover was crowned Car of the Year, topping the competitive Crossover category.
More recently, the unique new generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® driving environment of the 3008 SUV won the Technology award at the 2017 awards, and the all-new 5008 SUV won the Best Large SUV award at the What Car? On presenting this award, Auto Express Driver Power stated “Small SUVs have to strike a careful balance between practicality, frugal running costs and agile driving to suit the urban environments in which they’re often used. The Peugeot 2008 SUV has done exactly this and has beaten more established competitors to the title in this competitive sector.”

The Auto Express New Car Awards set out to identify the top cars to buy in each automotive area.
Automotive journalists and testers assess over 1,100 cars a year and Auto Express provides these reviews to their large readership. The Auto Express website is one of the UK’s biggest motoring websites, providing news, features and reviews and is the UK’s biggest-selling motoring publication.
In 2012, Peugeot celebrated a double award win at the Auto Express New Car Awards, with the Peugeot 208 winning the Best Supermini class award – even before its UK launch. The now-retired Peugeot RCZ Sports Coupé also won the Best Coupé class in both 2011 and 2012.
Announcing the results of its 2017 Awards, Auto Express named the Peugeot 3008 SUV the winner of the much fought-over Mid-Size SUV category, beating all of its competitors.
Three years after its production ended, the Peugeot RCZ is still winning accolades. Our popular sports coupe has scooped the award for the Best Used Sports Car in the Diesel Car Magazine Used Car Top 50 (formerly known as the Diesel Car Used Car of the Year awards) and even more impressively, has also been included in the list of the Top 15 Best Used Cars overall. The awards judge vehicles that are more than three years old.
Available between 2010 and 2015, the RCZ Coupe was praised by Diesel Car for its intelligent design and stylish looks – including its distinctive double bubble roof. This latest award adds to the multiple titles that the Peugeot RCZ won in its lifetime, including Diesel Car’s Best Sports Car for an incredible five consecutive years.
