Peugeot reveals UK pricing and specification for new 408

The new PEUGEOT 408 is now available for order in the UK, with revised pricing and specifications. This model strengthens PEUGEOT's presence in the C-segment, offering a range of electrified powertrains including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric versions across ALLURE, GT and GT Premium trim levels.

The new 408 range begins from £31,995 OTR, representing a lower entry point than its predecessor. Price differences between trim levels have been reduced. The E-408 qualifies for the UK government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant (ECG).

The PEUGEOT 408 features a distinctive fastback silhouette positioned between a fastback and SUV. Design refinements include a new front grille with an illuminated PEUGEOT shield on GT and GT Premium trims. New ‘three-claw’ daytime running lights are integrated into the reworked front face and bumper. The rear of the car is the first PEUGEOT to feature illuminated brand lettering, integrated into a gloss black décor and clear lens strip spanning the car’s width. New 19-inch ‘ADAKITE’ diamond-cut alloy wheels are available, with a ‘GRAPHITE’ design for the E-408. GT Premium plug-in hybrid versions feature 20-inch ‘MONOLITHE’ diamond-cut alloys. The standard paint option is Flare Green metallic, with Okenite White, Selenium Grey, Nera Black and Elixir Red also available.

The interior of the new 408 includes new instrument panel graphics and updated materials. ALLURE trim features ‘TREMEZZO’ seat fabric with contrasting stitch detail, while GT trim uses ‘UZILA’ seat fabric with green stitch detail. GT Premium introduces Alcantara with ‘Isabella’ leather effect and cloth trim. The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit is standard, featuring a 10-inch digital instrument panel and 10-inch HD touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on ALLURE trim. GT trim adds i-Connect Connected Navigation and virtual i-Toggles for shortcuts to climate settings, navigation, phone contacts and radio stations. A 3D digital instrument panel is included on GT Premium.

The new 408 offers a fully electrified line-up comprising hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions.

 

408 HYBRID

The 408 HYBRID features a 145hp powertrain with a 48V self-charging hybrid system. This includes a 1.2L petrol engine and a 16kW (21hp) electric motor integrated into a dual clutch six-speed automatic gearbox (e-DSC6). The system allows for pure electric driving up to 1km at low speed, supported by a 0.9kWh 48V battery.

 

408 PLUG-IN HYBRID

The 408 PLUG-IN HYBRID combines an efficient 1.6L petrol engine with a 92kW (125hp) electric motor. This is integrated into a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic electrified gearbox (e-DSC7). The powertrain produces a combined 221hp and 360Nm of torque. A 16.2kWh battery provides up to 50 miles of electric range (WLTP EAER) for ALLURE and GT trims, and up to 49 miles (WLTP EAER) for GT PREMIUM. A 3.7kW on-board charger is standard on ALLURE and GT trims, enabling a full recharge in 3 hours 25 minutes. GT Premium models are equipped with a 7.4kW on-board charger, reducing charging time to 1 hour 40 minutes.

 

E-408

The E-408 features a 58kWh usable capacity battery, delivering 210hp and 343Nm of torque. It offers an electric range of up to 283 miles (WLTP) for ALLURE and GT trims, and up to 281 miles (WLTP) for GT PREMIUM. Rapid charging up to 120kW is supported. Three levels of regenerative braking are available via steering wheel mounted paddles. Features include battery pre-conditioning and Vehicle to Load (V2L) functionality, allowing external devices to be powered by the car’s high-voltage battery. A V2L adapter is available as an accessory from PEUGEOT retailers. A heat pump is standard on GT Premium for cabin temperature conditioning and is available as an option on other trim levels.

ALLURE Trim

ALLURE trim includes FULL LED headlight technology, a gloss black front grille and door mirror shells, and dark-tinted rear windows. Convenience features comprise PEUGEOT Open & Go keyless entry and start system, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, rear parking sensors and an HD reversing camera. Dual zone automatic air conditioning and an electrochromic rear-view mirror are also standard. Four USB-C sockets (two front, two rear) are provided. E-408 ALLURE versions include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

 

GT Trim

GT trim builds upon ALLURE features, adding PEUGEOT Matrix LED Headlight Technology, and illuminated PEUGEOT shield and front grille. The interior is upgraded with a grained leather steering wheel with GT logo and Alcantara facia and door panel inserts. Additional equipment includes an electric tailgate, lane position assist and front parking sensors.

 

GT Premium Trim

GT Premium trim includes Alcantara upholstery, three-stage heated front seats, an eight-programme multi-point massage function and four-way electric lumbar adjustment. Electrically adjustable front seats are standard. Additional driver assist features include rear cross traffic alert, long range blind spot detection and a 360° camera system. A ten-speaker FOCAL Premium Hi-Fi system is also included.

Electric range figures are determined using the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). WLTP measures fuel and energy consumption, range and emissions for passenger cars. EAER (Equivalent All Electric Range) is a specific WLTP measurement for plug-in hybrid vehicles.
