BlueHDi is the name given to PEUGEOT’s latest generation of fuel and environmentally efficient Diesel engines.
Generated from a world-famous diesel heritage and innovative, automotive engineering excellence, BlueHDi complies with Euro 6 emission standards to deliver a driving experience rich in power and performance but with exceptional fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
BlueHDi engines meet Euro 6 standards thanks to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Particle Filtration processes. BlueHDi delivers the cleanest diesel engine possible and exceptional fuel economy.
A three stage cleansing process specifically targets the pollutants of diesel combustion, removing hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, reducing nitrogen oxides by up to 90% and eliminating 99.9% of particulates:
DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (FAP)
At the end of the 90's, Peugeot identified the need to treat the fine particulates emitted by diesel engines to bring them down to the level of petrol engines and launched the Diesel Particulate Filter (FAP) - a world first - on the 607 in 2000. From 2007, Peugeot made FAP standard across its entire range.
PEUGEOT 908 HDi FAP
A HDi diesel prototype racing car built by Peugeot Sport to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Unveiled in 2005, it was one of the only diesel engined sports cars of its time and took the Le Mans title in 2009. It won a total of 19 of its 28 races between 2007 and 2010.
Our BlueHDi technology was recognised in the 2015 Next Green Car Awards, with the Peugeot 208 1.6 BlueHDi Active 75 S&S being named 'Best Supermini'.
Our latest BlueHDi technology is available across the PEUGEOT range (excluding 108) bringing fuel efficiency and low C02 emissions to every journey.
