Peugeot awarded two key Fleet World honours

Peugeot is certainly on a roll. Having recently won the much coveted 2014 European Car of the Year title in March, the New 308 has now been awarded the key accolade at the 2014 Fleet World Honours of ‘Best New Car’, which recognises the appeal of cars in the important Fleet and Business Market.

The New 308 is a car 140kg lighter than its predecessor, with a stylish exterior, an i-Cockpit inspired interior that combines instrumentation viewed over the smaller steering wheel, a large touchscreen control display, a wide range of new PureTech Petrol and BlueHDi Diesel engines – each with class-leading performance and CO2 emissions from just 82g/km. Available in a five-door hatchback or SW estate, both with the biggest boot space in their sector, the 308 already has the pedigree for a winning formula.

Fleet World Editor, Steve Moody, commented: "The 308 is the best car Peugeot has launched in years, with super-low emissions, an excellent three cylinder petrol engine, lots of space and a cabin that is as good as anything from a premium brand, if not better. The clever infotainment system also means drivers are distracted less and it's keenly priced too, making it a major force in fleet."

At the same event ceremony, the Peugeot Bipper was also awarded the ‘Best Light Van’ in the Van Fleet World Honours.

The Bipper is a popular choice for local deliveries or for compact, cost-effective transport as its size and taller design is a perfect shape for this purpose. Combining a good level of specification, capability and efficient engines for performance, the Bipper is a natural winner, having won the International Van of the Year title previously.

Light Commercial Van sales for Peugeot were up 52% in the first quarter of 2014.

John Kendall, Fleet World Van Editor, commented: "If you need a light van, the versatile Bipper is hard to beat. High payload and low running costs give it an enduring appeal."

The Peugeot Bipper shares the ‘Best light Van’ award prize with its sister vehicles – the Citroën Nemo and Fiat Fiorino.
