      AUTO mode basically means the entire system is controlled electronically, something you’ll particularly notice when switching between the diesel engine and the electric motor. AUTO mode also provides a perfect balance between fuel consumption and dynamic performance.

      After a more dynamic drive? Look no further than SPORT mode. This provides a considerable performance boost, with the diesel engine and electric motor operating in tandem, up to 74 mph. It's the perfect choice for motorway or long-distance driving.

      ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode, with its 100% electric performance, is perfect for city driving. That’s down to its quieter running and zero emissions while you’re on the go. And when you’ve enough battery power, it can go up to 37 mph - ideal for shorter journeys.

      Increased motor power at low speeds: That’s what 4WD (4-wheel drive) mode gives you, because it uses all four wheels continuously. You get simultaneous traction from the diesel engine and propulsion from the electric motor, all up to 74 mph. Plus it's great for wintry conditions.

      The 2.0 litre HDi 163 FAP combustion engine works best on roads and motorways – and journeys that combine different driving terrains. It also syncs with our FAP (diesel particulate filter) technology.

      ELECTRIC MOTOR EXPLAINED2

      With a potential power output of 37 bhp, this motor is perfect for zipping round the city. Whenever the car slows down or brakes, the battery, located at the rear, has the ability to recharge – which all helps lower fuel consumption.

      WHAT IS STOP & START?

      This system reduces fuel consumption and emissions by stopping the starter/alternator when you’re at a standstill and automatically restarting the combustion engine when you’re ready to go again. When combined with the efficiency of HYbrid4 technology, Stop & Start makes for even greener motoring.
