Peugeot has opened a Specialist Vehicle Conversions facility
Peugeot has opened a new centre dedicated to specialist emergency vehicle conversions.
The new 5,000 sq ft PSVO facility in Coventry is equipped to deal with a variety of vehicle conversions ranging from Police Support Units and Canine Patrol to Scenes of Crimes vans.
And the conversions can be made across
Peugeot’s range of cars
and
CVs
(Commercial Vehicles), including
308
and
407 SW
squad cars, a ‘Fire Authority’
Bipper
van, ‘two-person cell’
Expert
van and a PSU (Police Support Unit) vehicle based on the
Peugeot Boxer
.
The centre is already inundated with work, with more than £500,000 in orders following the recent National Police Fleet Managers Show at Cheltenham Racecourse.
Making its debut at the show was a specific conversion by PSVO for Canine Patrol units of its popular
308 SW
, which incorporates a specially designed, removable dog-cage.
Kevin O’Kelly, Aftersales Director for Peugeot, says: ‘Peugeot has long been completing high-quality emergency services conversions and the new facility enables us to provide a fully integrated in-house service for all specialist requirements.
‘We now have increased floor space, upgraded mechanical equipment and new technology available to us. This means we can increase our capacity for completed conversions, while the new premises also house a specific area of new product development so we can continually enhance our portfolio of emergency special vehicle conversions.’
Also on display at the show was the
308
which can carry five passengers and two dogs safely and in comfort.
It also features Peugeot’s standard ‘blue-light’ fittings including a light bar, siren, PA system, hand set, control box, LED bumper lights and full police livery.
Louise Brown, Fleet Sales Manager for Specialist Fleets at Peugeot says: 'It was a great show for Peugeot, where the reaction to the product on display was fantastic.
‘With the launch of our dedicated PSVO operation in Coventry and a strong range of vehicles available for conversion, Peugeot is building its emergency services range into the most comprehensive and diverse yet. We will continue to expand on this, working closely with police fleet managers to ensure we can meet their ever-changing requirements for transport services.’
