A Hybrid Future

Peugeot Prologue
Peugeot's hybrid technology includes the Prologue concept car

It promised glamour, excitement… and a glimpse into Peugeot’s hybrid future. And this year’s Paris Motor Show lived up to its promise, attracting more than 1.4million visitors.

The highlight of the Peugeot stand was the all-new Coupé Cabriolet, the 308 CC.

On sale from spring 2009, the range is powered by Euro V HDi diesel and petrol turbocharged engines.
It also features an Airwave® Neck Heating System which diffuses warm air around the neck and shoulders of the driver and front passenger.

Pierre-Louis Colin, Managing Director of Peugeot UK says: ‘This is the latest version of the CC in the range. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m sure it will be a tremendous success in the UK market.’

Also key was the unveiling of Peugeot’s expertise in hybrid technology – courtesy of a line-up of concept cars.
Peugeot’s diesel-electric hybrid all-wheel drivetrain will be fitted on mid-sized models scheduled for market launch in 2011.

Among the first to be unveiled in Paris was the Prologue Hybrid concept car. It has significantly reduced CO2 emissions of 109g/km in the combined cycle.
The car also has drive to all four wheels and a 2.0-litre HDi FAP engine.

The hybrid combines a rear-mounted electric motor that drives the rear wheels and a diesel engine that runs the front wheels.

Keith Ryder from Peugeot’s Design Centre says: ‘The Prologue is almost a kind of laboratory of ideas. From a styling point of view we have an SUV cross-over image.’

Also on show was the RC HYbrid. This ‘GT’ coupe has a potential maximum power output of 313 bhp and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle.

Boris Reinmoller designed the RC HYbrid concept car. He says: ‘We wanted to express the future design of Peugeot with this car. We wanted to express what we want to do in the future in terms of finishing, design solutions and detail.’
