Peugeot's new electric car launches in 2010

It’s electric!

Peugeot is set to launch a new electric vehicle in 2010.  The i0n will have zero emissions and be able to travel 80 miles on a single charge. And thanks to its compact size, this city car ideal for urban living. The i0n has four doors and four seats and has a turning circle of 4.50 m – meaning you can squeeze in and out of the tightest of spaces.

Recharging the lithium-ion batteries couldn’t be easier. Simply charge on a normal mains power supply for six hours and the i0n will be back up to full power. If you’re pushed for time, in 30 minutes the batteries will recharge to 80% capacity thanks to the fast charging system. An innovative onboard ‘localised communication unit’ will also contact the emergency services direct if needed.

The i0n, which has been developed in co-operation with Mitsubishi Motor Company will be launched at the end of 2010. It is the latest in a long history of Peugeot’s electric vehicles. The Peugeot 106 Electric was produced between 1995 and 2003, and Peugeot remains the top-selling manufacturer of "zero emission" electric vehicles in the world.

And the i0n reconfirms Peugeot’s commitment to lowering emissions. The 207 Économique, due for launch in October, has emissions of just 99g/km, while the 3008 Hybrid launches in 2011.
