LE MANS 24 HOURS – RACE TO VICTORY
Peugeot 908 - Le Mans 24 Hours

2008 promises to be a high-octane year for Peugeot Sport. Not only are they defending champions of the 2007 Le Mans Series, they’ve also set themselves a tough target – to win this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours.

To achieve their goal in the enduring race, Peugeot has announced a new three car line-up, along with a team including eight former Grand Prix drivers. Their key weapon is the 908 HDi FAP.

Last year, this technology saw Peugeot starting in pole position before finishing second. Since then, the 908 HDi FAP has been put through a series of rigorous test sessions and simulations. Improvements on suspension, steering and gearshift control mean it is now ready for the 24-hour challenge on June 14.

Peugeot Sport Director Michel Barge says: ‘Our priority is the Le Mans 24 Hours. We will face some fierce competition. That’s what we wanted and that’s what we’ve got!’

The Peugeot squad consists of drivers including Nicolas Minassian, Jacques Villeneuve, Christian Klien, Franck Montagny, Alexander Wurz, Pedro Lamy and Ricardo Zonta.

Michel adds: ‘Like last year, we wanted our 2008 line-up to be strong, very human, sporting and bonded. During the recruitment process, which was led by Serge Saulnier, we paid attention to all these factors, as well as the respective records and experience of the drivers in cars which are in fact very close to the 908 HDi FAP in the way they need to be set up and driven.’

‘Between them, our drivers have 393 Formula One Grand Prix starts under their belts, as well as 32 previous participations in the Le Mans 24 Hours.’
