Peugeot 908 HDi FAP won the Monza (Italy) stage of the Le Mans Series

The Le Mans Series is hotting up… and Peugeot’s 908 HDi FAP technology seems unstoppable!

After winning the first race at Barcelona, Peugeot have now claimed victory at the second round in Monza, Italy.

The race, held on April 27, ended with a thrilling sprint finish for Pedro Lamy in the N° 8 car. And he saw off competition from the N° 2 Audi R10 to claim overall victory for the 908 HDi FAP.

And the results speak for themselves: LMS defending champions Peugeot 2 – Audi 0.

Michel Barge, Peugeot Sport Director, says: ‘It was a superb race which ended in an extraordinary finale. It was a very close-run thing not only between Peugeot and Audi, but also in the different categories, and that can only be good for the Le Mans Series.’

‘This race marked the anniversary of our first win and we celebrated that with an all-Peugeot front row and the fastest race lap and the race win. It’s a great result for Peugeot Sport and an excellent way to prepare for the Le Mans 24 Hours.’

The N°7 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, driven by Nicolas Minassian and Marc Gené, started from pole position. But it was delayed by transmission problems, dropping the car to 34th.

However, after repairs, they fought back to claim fifth place in front of the N°1 Audi… and put Peugeot on top of the Manufacturers’ standings.

The next LMS race will take place in Spa, Belgium on May 9-11.
