Peugeot RCZ secures victory at Nürburgring 24 Hour race

Peugeot RCZ in Nurburgring
Peugeot's RCZ secures a great victory

It’s already won plaudits for its sublime curves and double bubble roof. And now Peugeot’s new RCZ sports coupé has proved it’s equally as impressive on the move after winning its category in a gruelling 24-hour race.

Two RCZs were entered into the Nürburgring 24 Hour race under numbers 200 and 201 – a nod to Peugeot’s 200-year anniversary. And in testimony to the RCZs drivetrain performance, the crew driving car No 201 came first in their category: D1T for diesel cars between 1700 and 2000 cc. Meanwhile, the crew in No 2000 came third in the same category at the event on 15 May – a fantastic result for Peugeot.

Powered by Peugeot’s 2.0 litre HDi FAP diesel engine tuned to produce 200 bhp , the cars were mainly standard aside from a few racing and safety parts from Peugeot Sport.

It is an indication of the RCZ’s fantastic performance and handling – the most powerful model can hit 60mph in just 7.6 seconds yet can still travel nearly 40 miles on every gallon of fuel.
