Peugeot UK enjoy debut win at Ypres rally

Victory at Ypres rally
Peugeot UK clinches third IRC victory

Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle are celebrating a hat trick after winning on their debut at Ypres - their third IRC victory in a row.

The momentous Peugeot UK win means Kris and Paul now have a six-point lead in the standings over their Peugeot team-mate Freddy Loix, who won the Ypres Rally last year.

It was an impressive victory for the Peugeot UK team in their 207 S2000. Despite it being their first time on the challenging tarmac stages at Ypres, Kris and Paul outpaced the competition on Day Two of the rally.

After setting the fastest time in the opening stage, the next two stages saw them record third and second fastest times. Stage 12 saw Kris and Paul edge into the lead, ahead of  Loix, who went on to suffer a puncture in stage 13. And after stage 16, the longest in the rally, Kris and Paul celebrated victory.

Paul said: “It was a fantastic battle and credit to Freddy. He drove brilliantly.”

Kris added: “To have three wins with only four rallies gone is great, and it's nice to have those points on the board but there's a long way to go yet. I want to thank everybody on the team - Peugeot UK, Kronos, Peugeot Sport, and all the guys who supported me - not to mention Paul.”
