Peugeot supports scrappage scheme

Car Scrappage Scheme
The proposed car scrappage scheme – coupled with Peugeot's customer savings – means there's never been a better time to buy a new car

How would you like £2,000 off a new Peugeot? With the UK Government tipped to announce a cash incentive for drivers to scrap their old car for a new one with lower emissions, this could become a reality.

The proposed car scrappage scheme, which is fully supported by Peugeot, is a first for the UK market. It would see customers offered a £2,000 incentive to scrap their old car for new.

Coupled with Peugeot’s existing customer savings – up to £3,300* on some models – it could mean there’s never been a better time to buy a new car.

The car scrappage programme is likely to be announced in Alistair Darling’s Budget on 22nd April.
The proposed scheme would see customers receiving a £2,000 incentive to scrap their older car or van and buy a new one with lower emissions. Early indications are that the scheme would apply to cars at least nine or 10 years old.

Similar car scrappage programmes have already been successfully launched in other European markets including Germany, France and Spain.

However, if you wanted to take part in the scheme, you would need to move quickly. There is likely to be a time limit or a set amount of money to fund the incentive.

If you’re interested in scrapping your old car for new, look no further than Peugeot. In 2008, Peugeot topped the European sales of low emissions vehicles**. This meant one in every six new vehicles sold in Europe and the UK with emissions of less than 121g/km of CO2 was a Peugeot. And the findings also showed that in the UK, the Peugeot 107 was the best-selling low CO2 vehicle in the sub-111g/km sector.
