Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle are celebrating a hat trick after winning on their debut at Ypres - their third IRC victory in a row.

The momentous Peugeot UK win means Kris and Paul now have a six-point lead in the standings over their Peugeot team-mate Freddy Loix, who won the Ypres Rally last year. It was an impressive victory for the Peugeot UK team in their 207 S2000.

After Day One at the Ypres rally, Kris Meeke proved he’s a force to be reckoned with on tarmac by holding second place.

Having completed six stages of the IRC fifth round race, the Peugeot UK driver is now putting the pressure on Peugeot team-mate Freddie Loix who currently leads in Belgium. It was an eventful first day amid challenging conditions at Ypres.

Kris Meeke has completed the shakedown stages of the Belgium Ypres rally – albeit on three wheels.

The Peugeot UK team went slightly wide halfway through the first stage, breaking the right hand rear wheel of the 207 S2000. However this proved little deterrent to Kris and co-driver Paul who, after a quick repair by the Peugeot UK team, went on to set the joint second fastest time.



Peugeot wins Engine of the Year award… again!

It was three times a winner for Peugeot as they picked up the International Engine of the Year award… for the third year in a row.

The prestigious title, one of the most coveted in the automotive industry, was awarded once again to PSA Peugeot Citroen in the 1.4 to 1.8-litre category. The winning engine – the accomplished 1.6-litre, four-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine - powers the Peugeot 207, 308 and the all-new 3008.

Peugeot UK driver Kris Meeke has proved his talent on gravel. And now he and co-driver Paul Nagle are ready for the next round of the IRC – the challenging tarmac stages of Belgium.

Kris and Paul currently lead the overall IRC drivers’ standing in the Peugeot 207 S2000 after victories in Brazil and Azores. And the race will be on this weekend to stay at the top of the 2009 table as they compete in the Ypres rally.

Team Peugeot Total have stormed to victory in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours, ending Audi’s hold of the prestigious title.

After 24 hours and more than 380 laps, Peugeot secured first and second place on the winner’s podium to become Le Mans 24 Hours champions. It was a much-deserved win for Peugeot, not to mention testimony to the class-leading performance and reliability of the 908’s V12 HDi FAP diesel engine.

Peugeot wins at 1,000km of Spa

Team Peugeot Total celebrated a crucial victory last weekend in the run up to Le Mans 24 Hours.

The 1,000km of Spa is a key date in competitive preparations for the gruelling Le Mans race. And Peugeot’s No. 7 908 HDi FAP, driven by Nicolas Minassian and Simon Pagenaud, was first past the chequered flag. Pagenaud also recorded the fastest race lap time of 2m 2.569s.

The driving rain and strong winds proved no obstacle to Peugeot UK’s Kris Meeke as he steered his way to a second IRC victory at the Sata Rally Azores.

Having dominated the first 10 stages of the rally, Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle were first on the road in their 207 Super 2000. Despite the treacherous weather conditions – Kris said the cobbled surface in the stage was “like driving on the slippery roads of Monte Carlo” – they powered their way to yet another fastest stage time.

Peugeot UK driver Kris Meeke has stormed to a commanding lead at the end of the first full day of the Sata Rally Azores.

Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle passed overnight leader Freddy Loix to set consistent times through the day in their 207 Super 2000. Loix picked up a puncture in the opening test and by the end of stage two, Kris had moved into the lead over Juho Hanninen.

The Sata Rally Azores kicked off with a nail-biting shakedown which saw Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle finish the first day just two-tenths of a second off the lead.

A new cash incentive to encourage motorists to scrap their old car for new has been introduced by the Government.

From mid-May, owners of cars that are more than ten years old will be able to scrap them and get £2,000 towards buying a brand new vehicle. The car scrappage scheme – a first for the UK market and welcomed by Peugeot – was confirmed in Alistair Darling’s Budget on 22nd April.

Peugeot topped the European sales of low emission vehicles in 2008, according to new figures*.
