Peugeot Sport recruits new driver for Le Mans 24 Hours

Peugeot Sport has recruited a new UK driver in preparation for the gruelling Le Mans 24 Hours race in June.

Determined to retain the prestigious Le Mans title, secured last year with a fantastic one-two finish, Peugeot Sport has invited former grand prix driver Anthony Davidson to join the team.

Anthony already has invaluable Le Mans experience as he has driven for Ferrari (2002) and Aston Martin (2009) and will now line up alongside fellow Peugeot Sport drivers, Alexander Wurz and Marc Gené.

Peugeot Sport dominated the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours leader board and aims to repeat its success this year with the dynamic, diesel-powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAP.

Since its thrilling triumph in 2009, Peugeot Sport engineers and technical staff have been working hard to fine-tune the 908 HDi FAP – powered by Peugeot’s V12 HDi FAP diesel engine – ready for the annual 24-hour endurance race.

Olivier Quesnel, head of Peugeot Sport, says: ‘The Le Mans 24 Hours will be an epic event this year and the slightest mistake or delay, be it on the track or in the pit lane, will be costly. All cars have been further developed and there will be precious little to choose between the top teams, so it is going to be an intense battle.’

The 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours race will begin at 3pm on Saturday June 12 and finish at 3pm on Sunday June 13.
