Peugeot Defends LMS Title

The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP

The race is on! The 2008 Le Mans Series starts this month. And as winners of the 2007 LMS, Peugeot is focused on defending its title.

Contested over five rounds, the first takes place at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya on April 4-6.

Building on last year’s success, Peugeot Sport will enter two 908 HDi FAPs  – along with the same driver teams. This will see Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian in the No. 7 car and champions Pedro Lamy and Stéphane Sarrazin in No. 8. Last year both driving crews claimed three wins each.

Marc says: ‘Barcelona is a very special venue for me. It's the start of the championship and also home soil! I made my Formula 1 debut at the Circuit de Catalunya in 1999 and I'm really looking forward to racing there with Nicolas in the 908 HDi FAP.’

As well as defending their title, Peugeot Sport sees the LMS as a chance to test the 908… ready for Le Mans 24 Hours in June. Victory at this endurance race is a priority for Peugeot!

Michel Barge, Peugeot Sport Director, says: ‘Between now and Le Mans 24 Hours, we will use the Le Mans Series races to validate modifications to the car and improve reliability, an area in which we still have plenty of work.’
